The Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC) warmly welcomes the Gujarati community in and around Edmonton.
As a non-profit organization, GGAC is dedicated to preserving and promoting Gujarati culture, heritage, history, and traditions.
Through various cultural, social, and religious initiatives, we strive to strengthen community bonds and pass on our rich legacy to future generations.

Rakesh Patel
President
Mr. Rakesh Patel, President of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC), has been a driving force behind the organization since its inception in 2008. With a Bachelor Degree in Education (B.Ed) and a Master's Degree in Chemistry (M.Sc), he brings both academic excellence and a deep passion for community service. Professionally, he has owned multiple construction businesses for the past 15 years.
As one of GGAC’s founding directors, Mr. Patel played a crucial role in shaping the organization, often contributing personal resources alongside fellow visionaries to bring their mission to life. Over the past 17 years, he has remained steadfast in his dedication, progressing from a volunteer to various leadership roles, including Director and Executive Director. Having previously served as President, he has once again been entrusted with this esteemed position for the 2024-26 term.
Beyond his professional and community commitments, Mr. Patel cherishes time with his loving wife Uresha and two teenage sons, Krish & Rudra. Under his leadership, GGAC continues to thrive, benefiting from his unwavering dedication, strategic vision, and dynamic leadership.

Jignesh Patel
VP Admin
Jignesh, based in Edmonton, Alberta, is a dynamic and forward-thinking individual with a passion for growth and creativity. Actively involved with the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC) since 2016, he has contributed as a dedicated volunteer in various events. Now, he proudly serves as the Vice President of Administration for the 2024–25 term. Known for his curiosity and commitment to excellence, Jignesh thrives on overcoming challenges and embracing new opportunities, both professionally and personally. With a keen eye for innovation and a strong desire to make a meaningful impact, he remains dedicated to learning, connecting, and giving back to the community.

Hitesh Patel
VP Programing
Hitesh Patel is a dedicated member of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC) since its inception in 2008, he has been actively involved in serving the community through volunteer work. A successful businessman, he balances his professional endeavors with a strong commitment to community service. He lives with his loving wife and two sons, who support his passion for giving back. Currently serving as GGAC’s Vice President of Programming, he plays an integral role in the organization, going above and beyond to ensure that all GGAC events are executed to the highest standards. His dedication and leadership continue to enhance the association’s impact and success.

Nirav Raiyani
Secretary
Nirav Raiyani has been a passionate volunteer with the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC) since 2021, bringing his dedication and energy to the community through consistent service. A skilled control engineer by profession, he balances his technical career with a deep commitment to cultural and community initiatives. He lives with his loving wife, who supports his devotion to giving back. Currently serving as GGAC’s Secretary, Nirav leads communication efforts and social media marketing, playing a key role in amplifying the association’s presence and outreach.

Ajay Patel
Treasurer
Ajay Patel has been a proud resident of Edmonton since 2009, living with his wife, Dipalee Patel, and their two children. A professional engineer, he currently works as a process engineer at CNRL and is also involved in business ventures. Ajay has been part of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC) since its inception, previously serving as Treasurer and twice as a director. Currently, he continues to contribute to the organization as a dedicated volunteer Treasurer, helping to strengthen the community through financial stewardship and leadership.

Pranshu Patel
Director
Pranshu Patel currently serves as one of the Directors of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC). He has been involved with the organization since its founding in 2008, initially contributing as a volunteer and providing ongoing support over the years. In the 2024-26 term, he was appointed as a Director, offering a fresh perspective to the association. Pranshu is also helping GGAC become more visible on social media and strengthen its digital presence. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alberta, graduating in 2014. He is a successful multiple business owner and is married with a loving wife and two young children, Zeana (daughter) and Avyaan (son).

Rakesh Patel is a dedicated Director of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC) and has been actively involved with the organization since its inception. Starting as a volunteer, he has contributed in various capacities over the years, eventually becoming a key member of the committee. Passionate about community engagement, Rakesh has played a vital role in organizing and initiating numerous events that bring people together and strengthen cultural ties. A Realtor by profession and a successful multi-business owner, he brings valuable leadership and entrepreneurial expertise to GGAC. His commitment and dedication continue to drive the organization's growth and success.

Ronak Parikh, currently serving as a Director for GGAC, has been an integral part of the community for past few years. Starting as a passionate volunteer, he has played a key role in shaping and enhancing the experience for the community. With a background as a Digital Product Owner at Servus Credit Union, he brings a unique blend of innovation and organization to all the events. His dedication, fresh ideas, and commitment to fostering a vibrant community make him an invaluable part of the team.

Jasmina Jariwala
Director
Jasmina Jariwala, moved from Gujarat, India, to Edmonton in 2015, she has embraced Canada as her home while staying deeply connected to her roots. With a background in Fashion Design and a Diploma in Medical Office Assistance, she currently works as a Medical Office Administrator. Now residing in Beaumont with her husband and their two wonderful children—a son and a daughter—she finds inspiration in her family’s entrepreneurial spirit. Her husband, a business owner with a primary focus on IT software, has motivated her to actively contribute to the community through volunteering. Passionate about making a difference, Jasmina is committed to fostering a strong and inclusive community through her role as a Director of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC).

Raj Thakkar is a dedicated Director of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC), actively contributing to the organization since 2019. With a deep passion for culture and community, he works alongside a committed team to celebrate and preserve Gujarati heritage. A businessman by profession, Raj brings strong leadership and entrepreneurial skills to GGAC. Coming from a humble background, he joined the organization with the goal of ensuring that his son and future generations stay connected to Indian culture and traditions. Through various events and initiatives, he strives to create meaningful experiences that bring people together and strengthen the community. Raj lives in Edmonton with his loving wife and their son. It is a privilege for him to be part of an organization that makes a lasting and positive impact, and he remains committed to its growth and success.

Dhaval Patel is a Director of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC) and has been an active member of the Gujarati community since 2013. With a background in Mechanical Engineering and over 14 years of experience in the oil field industry, he brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to his role. Passionate about cultural preservation and community development, Dhaval has been deeply involved in organizing cultural events, social welfare initiatives, and youth engagement programs. His dedication lies in strengthening the community, honoring its rich heritage, and supporting those in need.

Dixita Patel
Director
Dixita Patel proudly serves as a Director of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC), driven by her passion for women’s empowerment and creating meaningful, lasting change in the community. A natural leader, she deeply believes in the potential of others and is committed to helping them achieve their fullest aspirations. Holding a Master’s in Commerce along with certifications in RPA and PCP, Dixita works as a Controller while balancing her professional and community roles. She resides with her loving husband, in-laws, and two sons, drawing strength from her family’s support. Actively involved with GGAC since 2010, Dixita has also been volunteering with the CRA’s community programs since 2018. Her decision to join the GGAC committee as a Director was fueled by her dedication to empowering young girls and women, ensuring they receive the same encouragement and opportunities she has experienced. Dixita takes immense pride in contributing to GGAC’s mission alongside an incredible team, working to uplift and strengthen the community.

Ashish More
Director
Ashish More has been serving as a Director of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC) since 2024. Originally from Vadodara, Gujarat, he has called Edmonton home for the past 20 years, where he lives with his wife, Bindiya, and their two daughters, Mansi and Ayushi. A professional Engineering Technologist with 16 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, Ashish has been actively involved with GGAC for over a decade. His deep appreciation for the dedication and hard work that drive the organization has fueled his passion for community engagement. At GGAC, Ashish believes in fostering an inclusive environment where differences are celebrated, meaningful connections are built, and lasting memories are created. Through teamwork and shared experiences, he is committed to honoring the richness of Gujarati culture and the unity of the community.

Pritesh Chavda
Director
Pritesh Chavda has been a member of GGAC since 2014 and became a director on the GGAC committee in 2024. He is married with two children—one son and one daughter. He joined the GGAC team to help strengthen the community and pass on their culture to future generations.

Lalabhai Shah
Ex President
Lala Shah is a dedicated community leader and chemist with a Master’s degree in Chemistry, he has been actively contributing to the Edmonton community since moving here 13 years ago. Currently working in the oil and gas industry, he balances his professional career with a strong commitment to cultural preservation and community service. With the unwavering support of his wife and two daughters, he founded the Vaishnav Centre of Alberta and later became an integral part of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC). Over the years, he has played a key role in organizing sports and cultural events, eventually serving as GGAC’s President for the 2022-2024 term. Now, as a former President, he continues to provide valuable guidance on GGAC’s Executive Board while also serving as an Executive Board Member of the Council of Indian Societies in Edmonton. Passionate about fostering unity and preserving cultural heritage, he aspires to establish a dedicated facility for the Gujarati community in Edmonton, ensuring a lasting impact for future generations.
